The Magpies have appointed Dan Ashworth as their new sporting director and he will work closely with boss Eddie Howe on the club’s player recruitment in the summer.

Howe wants to bring in younger players and is keen on offloading several peripheral stars to make room in his squad.

The Magpies are prepared to listen to offers for their fringe stars and some among the likes of Dwight Gayle, Matt Ritchie, Isaac Hayden, Ciaran Clark, Federico Fernandez, Jeff Hendrick, Freddie Woodman and Mark Gillespie will be made available for transfers.

However, with the transfer window rapidly approaching, Newcastle are yet to receive any concrete offers for their squad players.

But the agents of some Newcastle fringe stars have been made aware of interest from elsewhere, which could provide them with a pathway out of St. James’ Park this summer.

Howe has already held discussions with his charges that are allowed to leave the club in the upcoming window.

Although the Newcastle boss will have a significant amount in his transfer kitty for the summer, player sales will add to the funds available to him.
