Botman has already agreed on terms on a contract with AC Milan and has had talks with Paolo Maldini over moving to the Rossoneri.

Newcastle have rekindled their interest in the defender and have offered more in terms of wages to him than AC Milan have put forward.

But the Dutchman has prioritised joining AC Milan and are waiting for the Serie A giants to work out an agreement with Lille to sign him.

And according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, the Rossoneri will only take a definitive decision over whether to sign Botman next week.

AC Milan are still finalising their transfer plans and Botman very much remains on their radar.

But a final decision has not been made and the club are moving around the pieces on the transfer board.

The club will take a call on next week on whether to make a significant investment in the Dutchman or redirect the funds to other targets.

If AC Milan look the other way it would give Newcastle the much-needed boost in their pursuit of Botman.
