Forest are in talks to sign the 25-year-old goalkeeper from Manchester United on a season-long loan deal.

Henderson made just five appearances in the 2021/22 campaign and is desperate to avoid having another season without regular game time.

Negotiations are ongoing and Nottingham Forest are close to striking a deal with Manchester United for the goalkeeper’s signature this summer.

There were suggestions that Nottingham Forest would have a £20m option to buy as part of the agreement but those claims have been swatted away.

There will be no option or obligation to buy in the agreement and Henderson will join Forest on a simple loan deal.

Manchester United are still not prepared to completely lose control of a player who has three years left on his contract.

With Nottingham Forest likely to sell Brice Samba, Henderson is likely to be the number one at the City Ground if a deal is agreed.

The 25-year-old wants regular football in order to have a chance of making the England squad for the World Cup.
