Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to take Jesus to London and the Gunners have already seen Manchester City reject a bid for the Brazilian marksman.

The two clubs remain in talks though and Arsenal are confident that they can find an agreement to sign Jesus.

However, according to Italian broadcaster Sky Italia, Antonio Conte’s Tottenham are trying to hijack the deal.

Spurs know it will be difficult to successfully make a late play for Jesus, but they are determined to try.

Conte wants strength in depth ahead of a season which will include Champions League football and he is keen to have Jesus in his squad.

Joining Spurs though could see Jesus handed less game time than a move to Arsenal would provide, due in part to the presence of Harry Kane.

Arsenal’s talks to sign Jesus have now entered a crucial phase and it remains to be seen if there is an opportunity for Tottenham to steal in and grab the striker from under the Gunners’ noses.
