Silva has three years left on his contract but has been heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer.

Barcelona are interested in signing him and will make a move for the player if they sell Frenkie de Jong to Manchester United in the ongoing transfer.

Guardiola has reportedly told Silva that he would allow him to leave for Barcelona if Manchester City receive an acceptable offer for him this summer.

However, the Manchester City manager claimed that for the moment he does not see the midfielder leaving the club.

But he conceded that he would not stand in anyone’s way if they want to leave Manchester City and stressed that he does not know what could happen over the transfer window.

Guardiola said in a press conference: “Today, I think Bernardo will continue with us.

“I don’t want to have players who don’t want to be with us and I don’t know what the market will decide.

“Our intention is for him to stay.”

Silva is the top target for Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez as the potential replacement for De Jong.
