The 25-year-old winger will be out of contract at Barcelona in two days’ time and the decision over his future has entered a decisive phase.

Barcelona have been negotiating over a new contract with the player’s representatives for several months and the talks have gone through their ups and downs.

Xavi Hernandez has continued to push to keep him at the Nou Camp but the winger also has a lucrative contract offer from Chelsea on his table.

And according to French sports daily L’Equipe, a decision is likely to be made by the player today over the offers from Barcelona and Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel managed him at Borussia Dortmund and is pushing to take him to Stamford Bridge this summer.

He wants Dembele and Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling in the wide areas of Chelsea next season.

However, Dembele’s preference is to stay at Barcelona and the Catalan giants have the advantage in the race.

Barcelona’s offer for him is well short of what he wants but it has been claimed that it is still the most lucrative proposal on his table.

Xavi has been in constant contact with Dembele in order to convince him to stay in Catalunya.
