Sturge made 19 appearances in all competitions during the 2021/22 season, laying on three assists, including a solitary appearance for the Seagulls’ Under-23 side.

Leeds are interested in adding a left-back to their squad with the potential of becoming a first-team star after former Barcelona defender Junior Firpo failed to establish himself in that position, with veteran Stuart Dallas deputising there more often than not.

Sturge is yet to make an appearance for Brighton’s first team under Graham Potter and the Whites are getting ready to pounce.

Leeds are actively targeting the left-back with a view to adding him to their squad this summer, joining Chelsea in the race for the teenager.

Brighton ended the Premier League season in ninth place with a record tally of 51 points while boasting one of the best defences in the top flight.

Leeds, by contrast, were battling relegation towards the end of last season and it took them until the final matchday to secure their Premier League safety.

Chelsea had two bids rejected for Sturge in January and it remains to be seen what the Seagulls do, as Marc Cucurella is being linked with an exit.
