Neves was heavily tipped to be a possible departure from Molineux this summer with interest from both England and abroad.

Barcelona are interested in the midfielder, while he has also been linked with Europa League duo Manchester United and Arsenal.

However, the midfielder is now expected to stay in the Midlands for next season as Wolves’ asking price has put clubs off.

Barcelona though are planning to resume their pursuit of Neves next summer, according to Catalan daily Sport.

The Catalan giants are in a money crunch and are struggling both to register players as well as come up with cash to buy new ones such as Leeds United star Raphinha.

Neves will have only a year left on his contract with Wolves next summer and it is expected that he will be available for a reduced fee then.

Barcelona are confident that they can rely on 33 year-old Sergio Busquets for another season and only after the next campaign will they begin anew the chase for Neves.
