Adams is undergoing his medical with Leeds this week and is rapidly closing in on a switch to Elland Road.

Leeds have an agreement in place with Leipzig to sign the midfielder for a fee around the €20m region and personal terms have also been agreed.

Tedesco confirmed that Adams is on the verge of leaving Leipzig and admitted that he was a popular member of his squad along with being a quality player.

However, he indicated that Leipzig had to grant his wishes to move on as he was not playing regularly in the team last season.

Tedesco was quoted as saying by RB Live: “He said goodbye to the team on Monday. The topic is done.

“He was very liked here, he is a very good player and a fine character, it hurts to say goodbye.

“If a player is unhappy with his playing time – we have an extremely large squad – then you have to understand him and fulfil his wishes.”

Jesse Marsch has fond memories of working with Adams at Leipzig and believes he will be a good addition to his Leeds squad.

The United States international is being brought in as the replacement for Kalvin Phillips who joined Manchester City this week.
