The Magpies have failed with their efforts to snap up striker Hugo Ekitike for a second transfer window running and have turned their attention towards alternative options.
A new striker remains priority for Newcastle boss Eddie Howe ahead of his first full season in charge at the club and they are being linked with a number of forwards.
It has been claimed that Newcastle have free agent Lingard in their sights this summer, while Flamengo hitman Barbosa is another player credited with interest from the Magpies.
However, Newcastle are currently not interested in signing either the ex-Manchester United star or the Brazil international.
The Tyneside giants were keen on landing Lingard in January, but they were unwilling to match Manchester United’s demands for him then and have not added him to their list of targets again even though he is available on a free transfer.
Barbosa is claimed to be a long-term target of Newcastle and the player’s agents are open to discussing a move for him to St James’ Park, although the club are not considering him among their targets at present.
The striker is currently helping Flamengo climb the rankings in the Brazilian Serie A, while Lingard is wanted by both West Ham United and Everton this summer.
