Gordon is one of the brightest young prospects to come out of the Everton academy in recent years and was a real spark for the Toffees in an otherwise dismal 2021/22 season.

Everton have already sold Richarlison to Tottenham this summer and could need to sell more players after years of overspending on recruitment.

Gordon has emerged as a target for several clubs in the Premier League who are looking to take advantage of Everton’s financial situation.

Newcastle have an interest in the 21-year-old and conversations have taken place between the two clubs over a potential move.

However, the Magpies are aware that a deal to snare Gordon away from Everton this summer is highly unlikely.

Everton do not want to sell and Frank Lampard, who is a big fan of the player, is insistent on keeping him.

Gordon himself is not pushing for a move as well and is not planning to leave Everton this summer.

Newcastle are keeping tabs on the situation but do not believe they have a chance of signing him this time around.

Tottenham asked about Gordon during talks for Richarlison, but were rebuffed and Newcastle could suffer the same fate.
