Gordon was one of the shining lights for Everton in what was a very tough 2021/22 Premier League campaign and he also managed to impress on the international stage with England Under-21s.

The winger attracted interest from top flight rivals Tottenham Hotspur last month but Everton made it evident that the player was not for sale.

Newcastle have now expressed their desire to take Gordon to Tyneside as boss Eddie Howe looks for attacking reinforcements.

However, Everton have again made their stance clear on their academy product and do not want to let him go, with boss Frank Lampard prepared to do everything he can to keep the player at the club.

But the Tyneside giants are not looking to give up on their hopes of snapping up Gordon and are continuing talks with the Everton hierarchy.

New Magpies sporting director Dan Ashworth is leading talks for Gordon and has discussed figures on a possible move with his Everton counterpart Kevin Thelwell.

At present Newcastle have a lot of ground to make up before they can secure a swoop for the Toffees starlet with Everton keen on keeping Gordon.
