The 17-year-old made six appearances for the Saints in all competitions during the 2021/22 season, including one 45-minute cameo for the reserve side.

Apart from Rangers, Crystal Palace and Benfica are the other clubs showing serious interest in the young midfielder.

The Scotland Under-17 international became the youngest player in St Mirren, as well as Scottish Premiership, history on in March 2021 at just 16 years and five days old.

Reid has impressed the recruitment team at Ibrox and the Gers are said to be readying an offer of a six-figure sum for the youngster.

The 17-year-old will, in all likelihood, link up with Rangers’ B team in the Lowland League as the Ibrox outfit continue to build a team full of talented youngsters.

Should the offer be accepted, Reid will join the likes of Zak Lovelace, Cameron Bell, Archie Stevens and Lancelot Pollard as new additions to the B team, among others.

Rangers will look to reclaim the Scottish Premiership title in the upcoming campaign after losing out to rivals Celtic last season and also make an impact in Europe after reaching the Europa League final, only to lose to Eintracht Frankfurt on penalties.
