The Owls are gearing up for a second season in League One with boss Darren Moore determined to led them to automatic promotion next term.

Moore is keen on bolstering his attacking department with a new striker and zeroed in on Tigers star Wilks.

The Yorkshire outfit even tabled a bid in the £200,000 range for Wilks in the hopes of taking him to Hillsborough.

However, Sheffield Wednesday are set for disappointment in their chase to land the Hull hitman as he is set to stay at the MKM Stadium, at least as things stand.

Wilks was keen on linking up with Moore at Hillsborough, but the Owls have failed to match Hull’s asking price for his services.

The 23-year-old will remain as an option for Shota Arveladze while Sheffield Wednesday’s hunt for a new marksman is set to continue.

Moore will hope to add to his attacking options soon with pre-season preparations now in full swing.
