The 26-year-old was a fixture under Ralph Hasenhuttl last term in the Premier League but he has been linked with a move away from the club this summer.

Bednarek has three years remaining on his current contract at St Mary’s Stadium but Hasenhuttl is claimed to have told him that he is no longer in his plans at the club.

Southampton are prepared to listen to offers for the 26-year-old and he could be provided with an exit route by a Premier League rival.

Leicester are keeping close tabs on Bednarek’s situation on the south coast as they look to bolster their defensive department.

The Foxes could see a vacant opening up in their backline with Caglar Soyuncu claimed to be drawing the admiring glances of Serie A giants Inter and they are keeping an eye out for centre-back targets, with Bednarek now on their radar.

Bednarek has been at Southampton for five years now but could be offered with a move to a change of scenery if Leicester decide to snap him up.

It remains to be seen whether the Foxes will act upon their interest in Bednarek and table an offer for him.
