Bassey had a breakout campaign at Ibrox last season as he impressed in both Europe and in domestic competitions under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The 22-year-old has been linked with leaving Rangers in the ongoing window, with the likes of Aston Villa, where his former boss Steven Gerrard is in charge, credited with an interest.
Bassey could be handed an opportunity to play outside the United Kingdom as Eredivisie champions Ajax are interested in snapping him up.
Ajax are set to receive a cash windfall with their defender Lisandro Martinez closing in on a move to Manchester United on a big money deal.
And Ajax could reinvest some of the fee from Martinez’s sale to snare away Bassey from Rangers.
In addition to Ajax, Premier League side Brighton & Hove Albion are also keen on the highly rated full-back, who can also operate in central defence.
Van Bronckhorst is keen to keep hold of Bassey beyond this summer and wants to help him kick on with his development.
Rangers are yet to receive any offers for the former Leicester City star, and it remains to be seen whether the likes of Ajax or Brighton slap in a bid for him this summer.
