Gibbs-White has two years left on his contract and has been heavily linked with a move away from Wolves this summer.

Wolves are yet to take a final call on whether to sell him and want around £30m before agreeing to move him in the ongoing window.

Everton are amongst the clubs who are chasing him, but the attacking midfielder is also a primary target for newly-promoted Premier League side Forest.

And it has been claimed that Nottingham Forest are banking on Cooper’s existing relationship with Gibbs-White as leverage in the race to sign him.

The Wolves star is believed to be keen to work under the Nottingham Forest boss after having played under him both during a loan spell at Swansea City and with England Under-17s.

Nottingham Forest are hopeful that Cooper’s relationship with Gibbs-White will work in their favour as they try to sign him.

However, it is unclear whether Forest would be willing to test their financial limits by meeting Wolves’ asking price for the player, while it remains to be seen if Everton put a tempting proposal on the table.
