The Whites want a forward before the end of the window and De Ketelaere is their top target for the summer.
He has been extensively scouted and Leeds are also prepared to match Club Brugge’s £30m asking price in order to take the Belgian to Elland Road.
They also know how much De Ketelaere wants as a salary package and have indicated their desire to match his demands.
However, the forward has made it clear to Leeds that he wants to join AC Milan in the ongoing transfer window.
It has been made known to Leeds that if AC Milan match Club Brugge’s asking price the player will choose the Serie A champions, but the Whites remain reluctant to pull the plug on the pursuit.
They do not want to walk away from the chance of signing him given how much they like the player.
AC Milan are the favourites to sign and if they offer what Club Brugge want, De Ketelaere will end up at the San Siro.
Leeds are considering other targets but they remain vigilant about the prospect of signing the Belgian.
