Soumare was a regular fixture in Brendan Rodgers’ line-up during the first half of the 2021/22 season but featured much more sparingly in the second.

In all, the defensive midfielder made 30 appearances across all competitions for the Foxes, laying on one assist and accumulating only two cautions.

Monaco have sold Aurelien Tchouameni to Real Madrid and as a result, have made Soumare their biggest priority for this summer.

And according to French outlet Foot Mercato, a bid of an initial €12m plus €3m in add-ons has already gone in from Monaco.

The Foxes have set an asking price of €20m and rejected Monaco’s first bid, with the Monagesques tipped to go in with an improved bid soon.

Leicester are the only Premier League team left to add to their squad in any form this summer and are well aware that Monaco are flush with cash following Tchouameni’s sale.

It remains to be seen whether Monaco come out successful on the other end of a potential bidding war with other parties interested in the former France Under-21 international.
