McNamara is highly rated at the Den and Millwall are looking to tie him down to a new long-term contract as his current deal expires next summer.
The right-back is a top target of Championship rivals QPR, whose recent bid for the player was rejected out of hand by the Lions.
Millwall boss McNamara rubbished the fee QPR tabled for McNamara and stressed he would not bid the same amount for any of the Hoops’ young players.
Rowett went on to add that Millwall want to keep hold of the 23-year-old as they have big plans for him going forward.
“It’s an interesting one really because of the level of the bids – I wouldn’t bid for a QPR young player for that sort of amount, because it’s not even going to be close to any kind of valuation”, Rowett told the South London Press.
“At this moment in time I can’t imagine that changing.
“We want Danny McNamara to be our player and to develop and move forward with us.
“It’s a bit of a non-story, if I’m being honest.
“My focus is on Danny signing his contract.
“He’s been offered a good deal by the club and hopefully he’ll sign that contract soon.”
QPR are claimed to be still keen on snapping up McNamara and it remains to be seen whether they will submit and improved bid for him.
