Leeds boss Jesse Marsch has admitted that the Whites have not backed out of the race to sign the 21-year-old Belgian this summer.

The Whites are prepared to match Club Brugge’s €36m asking price and meet the wage demands of the player in order to secure his signature.

However, De Ketelaere has remained consistent about his preference to join AC Milan in the ongoing transfer window.

And according to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the talks between AC Milan and Club Brugge today had a sense of calmness.

Both clubs know about the player’s preference and are trying to work out an agreement for his transfer.

AC Milan are still reluctant to stretch their budget beyond the €30m mark and are considering offering add-ons and a sell-on percentage to further beef up the package.

The Rossoneri are still trying to settle on the right structure of the deal as they push to sign De Ketelaere.

The Belgian’s preference for a move to the San Siro has given AC Milan more leeway in the negotiations but they are keen to conclude a deal soon.
