Diop has been expected to be available to leave West Ham during the ongoing transfer window, with Premier League side Fulham showing keen interest in securing his services.

The Cottagers are believed to have already tabled a bid in the region of £12m for the 25-year-old.

Any possible move though has been put on hold given the situation the Hammers have been hit with following an injury to Aguerd in the match against Rangers on Tuesday.

The summer signing has already undergone a scan on his injured ankle though the extent of the injury will only be ascertained once the bruising goes down.

For now, though, the Hammers will play the waiting game and keep counting on Diop, who has fallen further down the pecking order in defence following the arrival of Aguerd.

Aguerd was able to play for just 23 minutes in the 3-1 loss against Rangers and had to be replaced by Diop.

The Hammers now prepare to take on Luton Town in their next pre-season match at Kenilworth Road on 23rd July.
