Torreira is heavily linked with leaving Arsenal in the ongoing window as he is not part of Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates Stadium.

The Uruguayan is tipped to return to Italy where Serie A side Fiorentina are keen to snap him up.

Torreira has agreed to terms on a contract with La Viola but it has been claimed that his former side Sampdoria are also now in the running for his signature.

However, according to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, Sampdoria are unlikely to be able to secure a deal for the Gunners man.

The Genoa outfit can only offer Torreira a contract worth €1m a season at the maximum, while Fiorentina’s current offer is for €2.7m

Moreover, Arsenal are asking for a fee in the €15m region for the midfielder’s services, which is far beyond what Sampdoria, a side that are struggling to sign players even on loan can offer.

As it stands, Fiorentina where Torreira played on loan last term, are in a better position than Sampdoria to sign him.
