The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed for the Liverpool age group sides and has been knocking on the door of Jurgen Klopp’s first team.

He made nine appearances in the first team, including twice in the Champions League, and is rated highly at Liverpool.

The Reds look to be open to letting him go out on loan this summer in order to play regular senior football next season.

And it has been claimed that Blackburn are leading the race to snap up the young midfielder from Liverpool.

The Championship side have had a good relationship with Liverpool since Harvey Elliott had a productive loan spell at Ewood Park.

However, they are facing competition from Oxford United and former Liverpool academy coach Karl Robinson is also prepared to offer him more first-team football.

But Blackburn have moved early and have decided to act quickly in order to secure the services of Morton for next season.

They are prepared to wrap up a deal to sign the Liverpool teenager on loan in the next 24 hours.
