The Hammers roped in Gianluca Scamacca from Sassuolo on Tuesday but are still eyeing more signings from Italy as they remain keen on bolstering their midfield.

West Ham have zeroed in on two Napoli midfielders in the shape of Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski and have already made efforts to snap them up, although they are yet to taste success.

The Londoners saw Napoli knock back their initial offer for the Poland international and are prepared to submit an improved offer, while Ruiz is claimed to have rejected an opportunity to join Moyes’ side.

Ruiz is currently in the final year of his contract at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona and his future remains under the scanner.

And according to Italian daily La Repubblica, Napoli are exploring the possibility of tying down the Spaniard to a new deal in order to not see him leave for free next summer.

Napoli coach Luciano Spalletti still rates Ruiz and is not against the idea of having him at his disposal for another season.

While West Ham remain keen on Zielinski, it remains to be seen whether they will look to return to the table for Ruiz this summer.
