Leeds boss Jesse Marsch is bidding to add a striker to the ranks before the transfer window slams shut at the start of September, while Nottingham Forest have already splashed the cash to back Steve Cooper this summer.
Both clubs are keen on Saints hitman Adams as an attacking option.
Now Southampton have received an approach for the striker.
However, it is unclear which club have made a move for Adams, though they are a Premier League side.
Leeds chased Adams when Marcelo Bielsa was in the hot seat in the 2020 January transfer window, but came up short as Ralph Hasenhuttl did not want to lose the striker.
The 26-year-old striker made 30 appearances in the Premier League for Southampton last season and registered seven goals in the process.
He played in Southampton’s meeting with Leeds at Elland Road in February, giving the Whites another good look at him.
