Newcastle want to sign two players in the final third this month, but their attempts to bring in an attacker have been met with frustration.

The Magpies have been priced out of moves for several targets and Leeds United have made it clear that Jack Harrison is not for sale.

Eddie Howe has conceded that they are short of options up front and it has been claimed that they are looking in Italy for solutions.

And according to Italian outlet Tutto Mercato, Colombian Muriel is one of the strikers Newcastle are considering signing this summer.

The 31-year-old Colombia international is in the final year of his contract and could be available for a low transfer fee given his situation.

Newcastle are pondering over whether to make a move for him and try to take Muriel to St. James’ Park in the coming weeks.

The club could make contact with the player’s representatives and Atalanta today to discuss a potential deal.

Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata has also been linked with a move to the Premier League outfit this summer.
