Newcastle are in the market for a striker and are considering several options ahead of the end of the transfer window.

The Magpies have struggled to bring in an attacker as clubs have priced them out of moves for several of their top targets this summer.

But the club are now prepared to make a move for Ramos and try to take him to St. James’ Park before the window closes on 1st September.

And according to Portuguese broadcaster SIC Noticias, Benfica are likely to sell to Newcastle as coach Schmidt prefers a different striker to Ramos.

The Benfica coach wants to bring in a new forward and needs money to make such an investment this summer.

The Portuguese giants are prepared to sell in order to raise the funds needed to sign a striker.

Newcastle are pushing to get him and are set to be ready to table a bid worth €30m soon.

Eddie Howe is desperate to add a forward to his squad and Ramos has emerged as a viable option for Newcastle.
