The Magpies are still on the prowl for attacking reinforcements in the ongoing window with a new striker at the top of their wish list.

Watford man Joao Pedro is a player firmly on Newcastle’s transfer radar while Sturm Graz star Hojlund is another name they are keen on.

The 19-year-old is though not short of suitors at present as in addition to Newcastle, Belgian giants Club Brugge, La Liga side Celta Vigo and Serie A Side Atalanta are keen on him.

Club Brugge and Atalanta have already tabled offers for Hojlund, but the Italians saw Sturm Graz knock back their opening bid worth €9m for him.

However, La Dea and the Austrians have remained in contact over the Dane and according to Italian daily Corriere della Sera, the player is convinced that a move to Bergamo would be good for his career, which may be a blow to his other suitors, such as Newcastle.

Atalanta see Hojlund as a player that an deputise for Duvan Zapata and the teenager is open to leaving Sturm Graz, given that they failed to make the Champions League proper this season.

It remains to be seen whether Newcastle step up their interest in the young striker with a bid of their own in the remaining days of the transfer window.
