Manchester United are pushing to sign the 32-year-old Germany goalkeeper as the number 2 to David de Gea this summer.

Erik ten Hag wants to bring in someone who could threaten the Spaniard’s place in the team and Manchester United have permission from Eintracht Frankfurt to talk to the Germany international.

Manchester United have offered him a four-year contract and the player is interested in a move to Old Trafford in the coming days.

Trapp stressed that interest from Manchester United is flattering but remained coy on whether he is on his way to Old Trafford before 1st September.

He was quoted as saying by German outlet Fussball Transfers: “I have always said that it’s nice when something like this happens.

“That’s nice feedback from somewhere.

“[I can’t] say anything about it myself. [I have] not heard anything.”

Manchester United are reportedly expected to table a formal bid for the goalkeeper soon.
