The Cottagers had offered to take Kluivert on loan for the season, with an option to buy that became an obligation if they stayed up in the Premier League.

Roma rejected that proposal and ended all communications with the Craven Cottage outfit for the 23-year-old, who spent the 2021/22 season out on loan with Ligue 1 side Nice.

Kluivert is not in manager Jose Mourinho’s plans moving forward and the Giallorossi are trying to move the Dutchman on this summer.

Now Fulham and Roma have had fresh contact with a view to move the winger to the Premier League, according to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia.

Kluivert made 31 appearances in all competitions for Nice last season, scoring six goals and laying on six assists.

The Dutchman has also entered the final year of his current contract with the Giallorossi and is keen to test himself in the Premier League with Fulham.

Fulham currently sit in eleventh place in the Premier League table after four games and will play host to high-flying Brighton, who are in fourth place, next.
