The Magpies have so far made no fewer than four new permanent signings this summer, including paying a club record fee to bring in young striker Alexander Isak.
Newcastle have until Thursday to make further additions to their squad while they are also expecting more players to leave the club.
Magpies boss Howe confirmed that his side are still looking to bolster their squad although he is very happy with the business they have done so far in the window.
However, Howe added that Newcastle are unlikely to be part of any more huge transfers this summer, even though further incomings are not ruled out.
Asked whether Newcastle will be active before the transfer window shuts, Howe told a press conference: “I don’t expect to be to be honest.
“We’re very pleased with the business we’ve done.
“The injuries we have we believe to be short-term so there might be a bit of short-term pain around the squad.
“Longer term, when those bodies are back, we’re very strong.
“That’s not to say we’re totally closed off.
“We’re obviously still looking but I don’t expect any major business to be done.”
Newcastle have not bolstered their midfield this summer and have been linked with interest in Chelsea star Tiemoue Bakayoko, who is on loan at AC Milan along with Arsenal man Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
