Kehrer joined West Ham this summer from Paris Saint-Germain on a four-year contract with an option to extend for a further two years.

The signing of the 25-year-old centre-back has provided more depth to David Moyes’ backline, which includes the likes of Kurt Zouma, Angelo Ogbonna, Craig Dawson and another summer addition in Nayef Aguerd.

Kehrer has featured in all seven games for West Ham since his arrival and has claimed that he enjoys the competition within the Hammers’ defensive unit.

The Germany international is of the view that the healthy competition between West Ham players is positive for the club and insisted that it is good for him as well.

“I enjoy the competition”, Kehrer told West Ham United’s official site.

“I never knew anything different – in all the teams I have ever played that has been big competition.

“It’s something very positive for me.

“The manager has to take the decisions and for us as players we have to give everything to make the decision as hard as possible for the first eleven.

“At the end this will only be positive for the team.”

West Ham are currently leading their Europa Conference League group and will take on Danish side Silkeborg IF today at the JYSK Park.
