Leeds tried in the summer to bring in the Dutch star to Elland Road but were unsuccessful in their efforts as he snubbed a deadline day switch.

Nonetheless their interest in the attacker still remains, with a move in January targeted by the Yorkshire club and talks continuing between Leeds and PSV Eindhoven.

Leeds even drew close to an agreement with PSV recently, but landing Gakpo now looks tough.

The winger has thrown the move into doubt as, after his stellar start to the season, he no longer looks upon Leeds as a favourable destination.

Gakpo has played 16 matches in all competitions this season and has registered 13 goals along with ten assists so far.

Spanish giants Real Madrid are believed to be a possible next club for Gakpo, while Manchester United also hold interest.

Despite the reluctance of the winger, Leeds will not easily give up on Gakpo and the Dutch club are willing to sell him at the right value.
