Bowen had a slow start to the season but has scored in his last two league appearances, while he played up top for West Ham and netted again in their 2-1 win over Anderlecht on Thursday night.

Michail Antonio and Gianluca Scamacca are the forward options for Moyes in the West Ham squad and the Hammers boss believes that Bowen can also develop into a striker in the coming years.

He stressed that it is clear to see how much the England international has improved in the last few years.

Moyes pointed towards the examples of Ronaldo and Messi who started out as wingers before becoming goalscoring forwards.

The West Ham manager believes that Bowen can do the same and develop into a goalscorer.

Moyes said in a press conference: “Everyone who watched Jarrod can see his development, he looks faster and quicker, he understands a lot more tactically.

“If you think of all of the best wingers we’ve had, Ronaldos and Messis, nearly all of them became goalscorers and strikers.

“Maybe he could do that as well.”

Bowen could well start when West Ham take on Southampton at St. Mary’s on Sunday.
