Villa travel to Craven Cottage to play Fulham first and then host another London side in the shape of Brentford at Villa Park on Sunday.

The Villans are one of three sides with nine points presently near the foot of the table, with Leeds United and Wolverhampton Wanderers on either side of them.

Agbonlahor has insisted that the games against Fulham and Brentford are massive for Gerrard if he is to turn things around at Villa Park.

The 36-year-old believes that any less than four points from these two fixtures will not do for Aston Villa given the tough clashes against Newcastle United and Manchester United waiting in the wings.

I just look at Villa now and this game for Steven Gerrard, he has got Fulham tonight and on Sunday, he’s got Brentford at home”, Agbonlahor said on talkSPORT.

Two massive games, because after that, it’s Newcastle away and I think Manchester United away or Manchester United at home.

So, these two games are massive for Steven Gerrard. From [these] two games? I think minimum four [points are necessary].

Aston Villa are 17th now on nine points. Wolves are 18th with nine points so Villa are out of the relegation zone only on goal difference.

And if you can’t beat Fulham and Brentford, what chance have you got? You’re in a relegation battle!

Currently situated in 17th place in the league table, Gerrard’s side are out of the relegation zone only by virtue of a better goal difference than fellow strugglers Wolves.
