Zaniolo has been linked with a move for almost the entirety of the transfer window and Leeds are the latest club to try for his signature.

Leeds are trying to get a move for the Roma attacker through on deadline day as they look to bolster their forward line, but Roma want to sell him rather than loan him.

Zaniolo has a contract that expires next summer but his relationship with Roma has become strained, with the forward going back to live in his hometown of La Spezia.

Leeds themselves have made little progress in their talks with Roma and may have to speed things up if they wish the move to happen on deadline day.

Zaniolo has been of interest to a number of clubs this window and from England, both Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth have tried to sign him.

AC Milan were the player’s choice of destination though and they too tried but similarly failed and he remains at Roma for the time being.

It remains to be seen if Leeds get his signature or if he stays at Roma, where he is prepared to be an outcast until the summer.
