Toffolo joined Nottingham Forest last summer but has been a bit part player this season and Forest were open to letting him go this month.

The defender travelled to Belgium recently to complete a deadline-day move to Anderlecht who believed they had a deal in place with Forest.

However, Renan Lodi’s injury forced Nottingham Forest to rethink letting Toffolo move to Anderlecht today.

And it has been claimed that the proposed deal has collapsed and the defender is on his way back to the City Ground.

Toffolo pushed for the move as he was not getting regular game time at Forest in the first half of the season.

But Lodi’s injury forced Nottingham Forest to block his move to Anderlecht as Steven Cooper did not want to lose a left-back option.

The 27-year-old left-back will spend the rest of the season at Forest and will hope to play more in the coming months.
