Sulemana has been heavily linked with a move away from Rennes before the window closes tonight.

The winger has been on the radar of two Premier League clubs – Everton and Southampton – who have been pushing to sign him.

Everton have made a verbal offer and there were claims that Southampton were cooling their interest in him due to Rennes’ financial demands.

But according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Southampton now have the edge to land the winger after he chose them over Everton.

The Toffees made a move for him but Sulemana has decided to consider a move to St. Mary’s over Goodison Park.

With the player’s approval in their bag, Southampton will now have to find an agreement with Rennes in the coming hours

They failed with a €20m bid and Southampton have been unwilling to meet Rennes’ €30m asking price.

The Saints will hope to work out a compromise with Rennes as the clock ticks down on the transfer window.
