The 23-year-old left winger joined Everton in the summer from Burnley but failed to establish himself in Frank Lampard’s starting line-up.

Dyche took over from Lampard at the end of January and McNeil has been a regular under him.

At the weekend, McNeil helped the Toffees grab important three points with his early strike against Brentford and Keane admitted that the winger’s goal provided encouragement to the Toffees faithful to rally behind them.

Keane stated that McNeil is a brilliant player with the ability to dribble and lay crosses into the opposition box.

The Everton defender revealed that McNeil is able to play with more freedom under Dyche and believes that the player is playing with confidence now.

“It was a great goal, a really good start to the game, and it got the fans up for it and behind us early on, which is always important at home”, Keane told Everton TV.

“Dwight’s a brilliant player: technically, he can dribble, the way he crosses, the way he strikes the ball.

“He looks like he’s playing with a lot more freedom since the new manager came in and that’s credit to Dwight and the manager; the work they are doing on the training pitch.

“He looks confident and everyone is starting to see what a good player he is.

“He’s a great lad so I’m really happy for him.”

Everton are struggling in front of the opposition goal this season and it remains to be seen whether McNeil will be able to provide the Toffees with the solution to their problems.
