The midfielder was ruled out for the rest of the season when he suffered a knee injury in January and is only expected to return for pre-season preparations.

Van de Beek’s career has not taken off since he joined the Red Devils in 2020 and the club are believed to be interested in letting him go this summer.

He has been linked with a move back to Ajax where he made a name for himself after coming through their academy.

According to Dutch daily the Algemeen Dagblad, Mislintat is set to probe the possibility of taking Van de Beek back to Ajax.

He is yet to assume his duties as Ajax’s director of football but he is already working behind the scenes ahead of the summer.

He likes Van de Beek and wants to see whether he could be brought back to Ajax in the upcoming transfer window.

Manchester United are open to offers for him and the Dutchman is also expected to welcome a return to Ajax in order to rekindle his career.
