The defender was on loan at Belgian club RWD Molenbeek last season, ending the season with 31 appearances overall for the second-division side, helping them earn promotion to the top flight and boosting his reputation in the process.

Now back with his parent club, O’Brien is drawing the attention of other clubs, with Ligue 2 side Troyes going on to table an offer for the player.

However, the seven-figure fee that is being proposed has immediately been turned down by the Eagles.

Given the fact that O’Brien is entering the final year of his contract, Crystal Palace could be placed in a difficult position if he does not agree to pen an extension.

That could lead to Palace having their hand forced and Troyes trying their luck once again.

O’Brien joined Crystal Palace from Irish side Cork City in 2021 and has since gone out on two separate loan spells.

Though he has failed to break into the Crystal Palace first-team he has been a regular with their Under-21s.
