Phillips won the treble at Manchester City in his first season at the club but was nothing more than a bit part player, featuring in just 593 minutes of football across all competitions.

The midfielder’s future at the Etihad is under the scanner this summer despite his insistence on wanting to stay at the club.

West Ham are interested in Phillips and Manchester City could offer him as part of a deal to take Declan Rice to the Etihad.

But according to German daily Bild, Bayern Munich are also considering trying to sign the Manchester City midfielder.

The German champions are in the market for midfield reinforcements and initially wanted to sign Rice.

Bayern Munich have cooled their interest in the West Ham captain due to the finances needed to do the deal.

Phillips is a player they like and he is very much part of their shortlist of midfield targets.

It remains to be seen whether they eventually make a concrete move to land the former Leeds star this summer, something which could put them in competition with West Ham.
