A midfield revolution was expected at Anfield this summer following last season’s disappointing fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

Liverpool triggered two release clauses to sign Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai from Brighton and RB Leipzig, respectively, in the ongoing transfer, but it has been suggested they have now moved on to trying to land Lavia.

And it has been claimed that Liverpool are not interested in bringing in a third midfielder this summer, putting them out of the race for Saints talent Lavia.

They have been heavily linked with a move for the 19-year-old midfielder in the current window; Lavia has been widely tipped to move on from St Mary’s.

But as things stand, Southampton will not have to deal with interest from Liverpool in Lavia.

It has been suggested that Southampton are looking for £50m to let Lavia go and Liverpool feel that price is too high.

With other clubs also credited with holding an interest in Lavia, it remains to be seen if Saints are able to count on him as they bid to bounce right back up to the Premier League next season.
