Spurs are keen to strengthen in central defence and could even suffer departures in the position as Davinson Sanchez and Japhet Tanganga are drawing attention.

The Bundesliga is where Tottenham are looking to do their shopping, with Tapsoba and Van de Ven, on the books at Bayer Leverkusen and Wolfsburg, respectively, on their radar.

They are holding talks with both Leverkusen and Wolfsburg and those discussions will continue this week.

No official bid has been lodged for either player yet and who Tottenham choose to accelerate for is claimed to depend on the price quoted.

Tapsoba, 24, was snapped up by Leverkusen from Portuguese side Vitoria de Guimaraes in 2020 and has shone in German football; he is considered Tottenham’s top target.

Van de Ven meanwhile, under contract at Wolfsburg, caught the eye in the Bundesliga over the course of last season and has seen his reputation soar.

Whether Spurs will bid for one or both centre-backs remains to be seen, but Leverkusen and Wolfsburg are unlikely to deal for a bargain fee and the north London club will have to splash the cash.
