Sheffield United are yet to sign a player since getting promoted to the Premier League from the Championship at the end of last season.

Paul Heckingbottom is keen to strengthen the squad as he looks to build a team that can survive in the Premier League in the upcoming campaign, but money is tight.

However, it has been claimed that Sheffield United are on the verge of bringing in their first signing of the summer.

According to Danish daily BT, Brondby midfielder Slimane has been given permission to England to travel to England to complete a move to Sheffield United.

He is due for a medical with the Blades today as he closes in on joining his new club this summer.

Sheffield United have agreed to pay a fee of a little over £2m to Brondby for the midfielder’s signature.

With only a year left on his contract, Brondby decided to take up the money on offer from Sheffield United for the Tunisia international.

The Danish giants have also secured a hefty sell-on clause, which could allow them to make more money in the future if Slimane becomes a success in the Premier League and moves on to bigger things.
