The Seasiders are preparing for life back in League One after being relegated from the Championship and boss Neil Critchley is plotting a promotion push.

He wants to strengthen Blackpool’s defensive options and his eyes have been drawn towards Premier League side Aston Villa.

Critchley is keen on defender Feeney and is eyeing a loan swoop, with Villa tipped to allow a temporary move for the player.

Feeney, 18, is a player that Critchley is well aware of due to his spell as Aston Villa assistant under Steven Gerrard.

He feels the former Fleetwood Town talent could do a job for Blackpool in League One and is weighing up a raid.

Feeney is highly rated and has turned out for England at multiple youth levels.

He has taken part in first team training sessions at Aston Villa and the Villa Park outfit locked him down on a new contract earlier this month.
