Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou wants two senior centre-backs adding to his squad mix this summer and the club have looked at several players.

Talks have been held and Tottenham are now closing in on the first of the two centre-backs, with a Bundesliga raid on the horizon.

Wolfsburg’s Van de Ven is now advanced with a move to Tottenham and Levy is taking care of the final negotiations personally.

Tottenham must still find an agreement with Wolfsburg on two elements of the fee they have agreed.

What remains to be concluded is the number of instalments that the fee will be paid over, as well as the terms of the payment.

With Levy involved, Spurs are now pushing hard to finalise the details and sign Van de Ven.

And Postecoglou will be looking for the defender to hit the ground running in north London, with the scanner on whether the Australian can make Tottenham top four contenders.
