Cannon is expected to move on from Everton on a loan deal before the transfer window slams shut.
It had been thought that Preston North End were poised to capture Cannon on loan, but no deal has gone through and a host of other Championship sides are also keen.
Birmingham City are one of the clubs who rate Cannon, but they are not willing to meet Everton’s loan fee.
It has been suggested that Everton want a loan fee of as much as £1m to let Cannon depart.
