Hamer, 26, has been plying his trade for Coventry City since 2020 and has already established himself as a midfield cornerstone at the Sky Blues.

His commanding displays have drawn interest from several sides, and Sheffield United and Leeds are among them.

The Whites have been keen on bringing the Dutch player to Elland Road in a bid to add to their midfield options.

But now it is claimed that Paul Heckingbottom’s side have won the race for Hamer and they are set to secure the Dutchman’s services.

It is also suggested that the Premier League new boys have agreed to a fee worth £15m for Hamer and the midfielder is about to undergo a medical at Bramall Lane.

The Blades have witnessed standout Sander Berge’s departure to Burnley and have moved quickly for Hamer.

Heckingbottom’s side are eyeing maintaining their Premier League status this season and they are hoping that Hamer’s inclusion in their squad will be effective moving forward.

Now it remains to be seen how Leeds will react next after Sheffield United have snatched Hamer.
